The central mission for Karlshamn Municipality is to help the community advance. To create a properly functioning healthcare system, schools and human services. To achieve this in a cost-efficient manner, the municipality’s population must grow, preferably by way of a positive birth balance. The current growth primarily derives from population influx. Karlshamn Municipality’s goals for an increase in population influx is consistent with the objectives toward which NetPort is striving. One-third of the board of directors is represented by Karlshamn Municipality.
Blekinge Institute of Technology
The Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) is tasked with providing academic education and conducting research, as well as interacting with the community. For BTH to be able to offer and conduct cost-effective education and research in Karlshamn, it must be economically independent. According to calculations, independence is achieved at 700 students. Through its NetPort membership, BTH is working to strengthen this positive trend. At BTH, interaction with the business community and society takes many shapes, including the External Relations Office (EXR), which addresses these matters. One-third of the board of directors is represented by BTH.
The business community is represented by companies and organizations working in NetPort’s focus areas: Digital Media, Intelligent Logistics/Intelligent Transportation Systems and Energy. One-third of the board of directors is represented by the business community, thus enabling it to influence the development of Karlshamn at large and to steer it in a favorable direction concerning research and other skills-enhancing initiatives.
