eFreight
The requirements for efficient logistics are what drives the commodity holders interest in ITS. This requires integration with different partners that increasingly require that the logistic can handle different combinations of transport. In conjunction with the EU Presidency, the Swedish government has taken an initiative to establish eFreight as a concept for electronic information in the transport chain and also developed a “roadmap” to establish a European system for electronic transactions. This benefits the shippers, sales representative, service and technology companies and government agencies.
eFreight Roadmap based upon the following vision for a more efficient, greener and safer freight transport system:
It shall not require paper-based documentation for planning, implementing and monitoring the transports in the EU. This shall apply regardless of the company, freight, transport, cargo carriers, service, transportation corridors and liability rules.
Administrative delays should be zero for crossing borders within the EU and the countries where the EU has established safe corridors.
eFreight solution must be be technology independent.
